A few of my favourite things

I am a big fan of the listings and events website A Little Bird. “Vogue meets Radio 4 online,” says The Guardian. They send out a weekly email which tells you about pretty much everything that is going on (sadly only in London so far): art, comedy, theatre, books, the lot. And you can win free things in their competitions.

I have not won any free things yet. Never mind. Here’s my guest blog for them on My Favourite Things. There are no warm woollen mittens or whiskers on kittens. But there are many other great phenomena.

Pappy’s, the brilliant sketch trio currently on their alleged “farewell” tour (let’s hope it’s not); Austentatious: The Improvised Novel, a wonderful improv show which brings a Jane Austen novel to life from audience suggestions (currently at the Leicester Square Theatre); Kersha Bailey, a fantastic new singer with a massive, haunting voice (MOVE OVER ADELE); Luisa Omielan and her lunatic, hilarious show What Would Beyonce Do? (currently at the Comedy Cafe).

And last but not least Upstairs Downton, an improvised attempt to recover a lost episode of this great TV period drama (gigs at the Wilmington Arms in December). This last one is a favourite thing because, er, I am in it. If Julie Andrews can have a copper kettle then I’m definitely having that.
